Kiki’s Favorite Things 2018!

Soo…how was Christmas? Are you putting your gifts to good use or are they already in the back of your closet?

It’s not too late, the after Christmas stock up is in full effect.

I selected my absolute faves that made the perfect gift ideas for this 2018 holiday season! OUT40 has combed through the list of “Favorite Things,” to find the six best gifts. This year’s edition includes gift ideas for travelers, comfort food lovers, beauty junkies, and those who want to focus on self-care.

It’s filled with presents you’ll want to give your family, friends, co-workers and definitely yourself.

1. Mama Biscuit’s Gourmet Biscuits

Mama Biscuit’s is America’s first gourmet biscuit baking company located right here in Frederick. They have a storefront on 85 but sell their biscuits online and in other bigger chain stores like Sam’s Club.

Mama’s Biscuits uses premium all-natural foods with “only the finest, freshest, ingredients. Period!” The biscuits are handmade, with no preservatives, and no artificial flavorings or colors. Along with the gourmet biscuits are the gourmet butters. There are over 50 flavors of biscuits to choose from! #WHATSYOURFLAVOR?

2. Two Sweet

Gotta sweet tooth? TwoSweet, LLC owners Karin and Katrice Scott are self taught bakers who also happen to be twin sisters. The duo specializes in hand crafted custom sweets for all occasions! This holiday season is no different. Get some custom cookies for your folks or yourself to keep the spirit going.

3. Edmonds Travel

Welcome to Edmonds Travel, the Home of the Patent-Pending Multi-Purpose Travel Wallet and all things travel related. Owner Darnell Edmonds is a Frederick native who believes that in order to see the world, the world has to see you. Getting this as a gift is simply a message. In other words, go explore.

4. Bluffa Jo Cosmetics

Bluffa Jo is a full line of lip glosses and liners, foundations, blushes, eye shadows and liners, bronzers, pigments, concealers, and brow definers based on Silver Spring, Maryland. The make up with skin care in mind. The term Bluffa Jo is from Liberian, West African terminology that refers to a fashion-conscious person who possesses style, class and exudes confidence. As stated on the BJ site, “the line is ideal for the trendy fashionista, glamorous, or classic individual that cares about the health of her skin.” They promote their healthy blend of minerals and colors that act as a skin-protectant, boast about their water-resistant and long lasting wear with minimal application. Kiki approves.

5. Luxe Reserve

Remember our interview with CEO of Luxe Reserve, Jeph?

Luxe Reserve is a self-care brand for girl bosses. From fashion to home decor and beauty products, Luxe Reserve is the haven for women entrepreneurs.  For Christmas and the New Year, LR has 5 Dream Boxes left. To the daily grinder, this one is for you. A perfect self-rejuvenation resource just in time to recharge for next year.

6. Sunflower Soul

Earlier this year, OUT40 had a Q&A with 23 year-old author, Distinee Gayle, of Sunflower Soul, a book apart of the Fully Bloomed collection of prose poetry.

Sunflower Soul is a compilation of 200 poems divided into five chapters exploring themes of growth, pain, love and so much more. Written as an evolution from seed to full bloom, this series of prose takes readers on a journey. Take this winter to catch up on some reading.

A Food Truck Fantasy Come True.

Kiki Wilson - Jul 15, 2019

Frederick Coachella -- if we had to describe it. The festival was a good looking crowd of fashionable and fun Fredericktonians eating out of cartons and drinking beer. The good life. With performances, good food, and a blazing sun, it was a festival for the books.
