Frederick chef Brandon Sumblin is back in the national spotlight as one of three returning Guy’s Grocery Games champions competing in Food Network’s America 250 special airing tonight. Hosted by Guy Fieri, the patriotic cook-off celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday by bringing together past champions from across the country for a star-spangled culinary showdown. Sumblin has become one of Frederick’s most recognizable chefs through his Food Network victories on both Guy’s Grocery Games and Cooks vs. Cons, earning a reputation for creativity, speed, and composure under pressure.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Sumblin’s career includes helping open two restaurants for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and working in acclaimed kitchens before returning to Maryland. He previously served as executive chef of the former Serenity Tearoom & Fine Dining in downtown Frederick and later co-founded Safi Catering & Personal Events with his wife, Chef Tiera Sumblin. Today, he serves as Executive Chef at Kneads Bakeshop & Café while continuing to grow Safi Catering and his newest venture, The Sifted Biscuit. His continued success on Food Network shines a national spotlight on Frederick’s thriving culinary community and the local talent making an impact far beyond the city limits.
