What makes an artist catch an eye or ear in music today? With a steady barrage of new music at our fingertips, competition is stiff. Here are some of the artists whose work OUT40 expects to gain traction and influence in the new year.
Stitch Early
This artist has grown to be one of the most decorated rappers in Frederick. Stitch consistently challenges his past feats with messages, visuals, and sounds that have made him a top competitor in the rap debate. He leaves his listeners hung onto his past projects and restless for his new music. Debuting his first single of the year, “Pocket Check,” the rapper is already letting his fans in on what they can anticipate. All of us love Stitch Early for his fresh concepts, big picture epiphanies, and his humble lyrics throughout it all. His accomplishments and milestones are well documented, and we see When The Sky Cracks is no different.
Demetrius
As an up and coming rapper on the local rap circuit, Demetrius brings a distinctive style and sound that is sure to shake up the Frederick status quo. His choice of beats, quality of production, and lyricism and storytelling is a force. With the recent release of, “Trigger,” Demetrius is starting off 2019 strong with a brazen sound and clear message. His project is expected to debut later on this year. He’s ready to cause some noise.
Retro/Ricole
After leaving the competitive hip-hop arena on a high with EP Mr. Sunrise, his fans eagerly await his return to the scene from being on tour with his band, daMood. Retro Ricole is one of the OG’s of Frederick rap. Though he took a small hiatus, he is expected to release some bars in 2019! We’re sure it will be well worth the wait.
DaJohn
DaJohn is one of the hardest working rappers in the city. He is always seen steadily producing quality music for his listeners, releasing multiple tracks, dope projects and clean collaborations. 2019 will be another year of him pumping the machine and exploring all his talents. We’re interested in seeing what he brings this time.
J-Fuze
J-Fuze gave OUT40 exclusive listens on some of the hot drops he has coming this year! After releasing #INWTP, the rapper stayed in his lane only emerging when he had a couple singles to share. But this year he’s back on his grind and is set to release some music that will define him more as an artist and set him apart from the competition.
Anf
Last year Anf released, Tre Deuce, a very well-received project by his followers. This year, we see Anf is maintaining his consistency in output. Next up: Who Am I. With a short prelude to his soon to be released project, Anf premiered the “Sh!t” track and music video. We must admit, in the video, the flow is different, the vibe is different, we’re looking forward to a new Anf sound this year.
And honorably mentioned we have…
Dc Denzel 301
We last heard from him back in 2017 when he released the single, “Nights Like This.” Now, word is he’s set to drop a project this year executive produced by Jase Kevion. Very dope and interesting collab. We’re excited to see what sound they come up with and the final product!
