“Say Cheese!” Ten students posed with County Executive Fitzwater on Winchester Hall steps to capture the “poster-children” in their advocacy for anti-smoking.
Organized by Women Solve, founded by Desiree Tucker, the initiative features posters of middle and high school students who have committed to staying smoke and vape free while pursuing their passions.

Each personalized poster tells a story of resilience and purpose, showcasing students who are choosing a tobacco-free lifestyle as they chase their dreams. The project, supported by a tobacco cessation mini-grant from the Frederick County Health Department, represents a countywide effort to engage youth and the community in meaningful public health advocacy. Todd Crum from the Health Department attended in support, helping affirm the importance of youth leadership in shaping healthier futures.
Key partnerships made this campaign possible, including a powerful collaboration with Lakshmi from Aavanee, who brought scientific depth and heart to the initiative. Coordinated with the support of Leslie Barnes-Keating from Frederick County Government, the campaign is gaining momentum with plans for more posters, more students, and even greater impact. Women Solve invites schools, businesses, and community spaces to join the movement.
