The gentle ringing of crystal singing bowls drifted beneath the summer night sky, inviting guests to slow down, breathe deeply and simply be. On July 29, Community of Grace Organization (COGO) brought its Full Moon Sound Healing Under the Sky to Sky Stage in downtown Frederick, creating an hour centered on rest, release, reflection and renewal. Held beneath the July Full Buck Moon, the outdoor wellness experience incorporated seated chair yoga, crystal singing bowls, guided relaxation, quiet reflection and the soft glow of LED candles. The gathering offered attendees an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through calming sound and mindful movement. The Full Buck Moon, traditionally associated with growth, strength and renewal, provided a fitting backdrop for an evening focused on letting go of what feels heavy and making room for restoration.
The event reflects the broader mission of Community of Grace Organization, a Frederick-based nonprofit founded and led by Barbara Pinnock. COGO provides peer-led, non-clinical wellness support for women, young women and families, with programs grounded in the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, including emotional, physical, social and spiritual well-being. Pinnock, a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, founded COGO after decades of service and lived experience, including a personal journey through grief following the loss of her son to gun violence. Her work is rooted in the belief that healing, connection and support can help interrupt cycles of generational trauma and strengthen families. Through wellness gatherings, support groups, creative healing experiences and resource navigation, COGO seeks to create safe spaces where people can find stability, connection and hope.
