Taurean Washington, a distinguished alumnus of Hood College, is set to make waves in the comic book world with his upcoming release, “GHOATS.”
This exciting new title not only showcases Washington’s artistic vision but also pays homage to important cultural milestones, including the recognition of Juneteenth and the contributions of civil rights activist Opal Lee.
Washington’s work is prominently featured in the Fall 2024 issue of Hood Magazine, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of Hood College’s African American studies program. The cover art, inspired by Black art and artists, underscores the program’s commitment to a multidisciplinary approach that enriches the academic landscape.
With “GHOATS,” Washington aims to blend storytelling and artistry in a way that continues the ongoing dialogue surrounding Black identity in contemporary art.
As Washington prepares for the launch, he embodies the spirit of innovation and reflection that Hood College fosters, making him a role model for aspiring artists and storytellers alike. As owner of Cr8n St8n, a community for visual artists, “GHOATS” promises to be a significant addition to the comic book genre, one that resonates with both avid and causal readers.
