The second annual Black Frederick Festival, held on August 24, 2024, was a vibrant celebration of the Black community’s rich cultural heritage. The event featured a diverse lineup of performances that showcased both traditional and contemporary Black art forms.
The festival began with a powerful performance by the Frederick County Mass Choir, whose uplifting gospel music set a celebratory tone for the day. Ayanna Gallant of Aya Cultural Arts Studio led an African drumming session, bringing the rhythmic beats of traditional African music to life. The crowd also enjoyed participating in line dancing led by Al the Instructor. DJ Marcus El kept the energy flowing between performances, spinning a mix of classics and contemporary hits. The festival continued with dynamic performances by the URB Gogo Band and the Hi-Fi Soul Band, ensuring the day was filled with music, culture, and community spirit.
