Frederick choreographer Brandon Brownfield has been bustin’ moves since grade school. He has continued to pursue his passion of dance in the community. Check out our interview with him and watch him ‘bruk it down!’
Q: How long have you been dancing?
A: I have been dancing since I was very young. But I started to take it seriously in 8th grade (2005) around the time the movies “You Got Served” and “Rize” came out.
Q: Why do you dance and how did you get started?
A: Why I dance. It’s my passion. Fitness and the arts, these are my passions. And when Jesus Christ came into my life, I dedicated everything to Him. So now, I dance for Christ and the message I want to convey to everyone is How powerful and loving He is through dance.
Q: What type of dancing do you perform?
A: The type of dance I perform is hip hop and modern. I kind of blend the two in most of my choreography. Anything really fast and with strong beats are strictly hip hop. The choreography & movements I do for say a song like “Heroes” by Amanda Cook, are enlarged and very dramatic gearing more towards the modern style of dance.
Q: What do you hope to convey and accomplish?
A: I hope to convey, passion, drive and commitment in always chasing those dreams Christ put in you from the start. Love and the message of Christ first and foremost. I’ll be starting dance classes soon for anybody interested in taking hip hop dance classes. More info on that coming soon!
