On Presidents’ Day, February 17, 2025, a large crowd assembled in front of Frederick City Hall to protest the actions of the Trump administration. The cold and windy conditions were no deterrent to attendees expressing their opposition to recent federal policies.

The demonstration was part of a nationwide movement called “No Kings on Presidents’ Day,” organized by grassroots groups like the 50501 Movement. Similar protests occurred in other Maryland cities, including Baltimore and Annapolis.
Local organizations, such as PFLAG Frederick, encouraged community participation, emphasizing unity and collective action. Photographs from the event showed hundreds gathered outside City Hall, holding signs and chanting slogans.
The Frederick protest was the historic mark of local community engagement in national discourse and their commitment to speak their truths to power.
