More than 4,000 pounds of frozen protein, fresh herbs, produce, and other resources were provided to local families on Saturday during the ENOUGH Food Expo at Hill Street Park. Neighbors, volunteers, and community organizations supported families experiencing food insecurity while celebrating the Golden Mile community. Hosted through Frederick County’s ENOUGH Initiative, the event was made possible through partnerships with Frederick County Government, the Frederick County Division of Family Services, Farm to School Frederick, the Maryland Governor’s Office for Children ENOUGH Initiative, and local community partners. In addition to the free grocery distribution, families enjoyed community resources that showcased the impact of neighbors helping neighbors.
The ENOUGH Initiative, which stands for Engaging Neighborhoods, Organizations, Unions, Governments, and Households, is a Maryland initiative focused on addressing the root causes of concentrated child poverty through community-driven solutions and partnerships. In Frederick County, the initiative works alongside residents and organizations to strengthen access to resources, support economic mobility, and respond to community-identified needs, including food insecurity. The ENOUGH Food Expo was designed to connect families with nutritious food, helpful services, and community connections, offering free groceries and prepared meals, cultural experiences, resource navigation, and activities for residents of all ages.
