Last Saturday, the Frederick County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Community Day at Monocacy Village Park. Held as a free event, it was a vibrant tribute to freedom and community spirit, drawing residents from across Frederick County.
The event featured a diverse array of activities catering to all ages and interests. Attendees enjoyed live entertainment that showcased local talent, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. Kids had a blast with a moon bounce and complementary snow cones and popcorn from the local YMCA.
Food trucks lined the venue, offering a variety of delicious cuisines to satisfy every palate. Additionally, the event emphasized community support through food donations, underscoring the sorority’s commitment to addressing local needs. Maryland delegates graced the stage and provided remarks while current Delta sorors offered their talents of singing and even a dance workout session.
Vendors enriched the experience with unique offerings, while multiple agencies were on hand to provide valuable information about resources available in the Frederick County community. This aspect of the event highlighted the sorority’s dedication to fostering community awareness and empowerment.
