On Sunday, October 6, 2024, a “Rally For Peace and Justice in Palestine” took place at the Frederick Towne Mall parking lot. This event was organized by the Frederick Ceasefire NOW coalition, in collaboration with the Islamic Society of Frederick and the United Muslim Council. Participants gathered to advocate for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Palestine, emphasizing the urgent need for peace and justice in the region.
The rally was not only a platform for raising awareness but also coincided with a significant public meeting held at City Hall. During this meeting, community members discussed the possibility of voting on a petition to officially endorse a ceasefire, following the actions of other municipalities across the country. This dual effort underscored the local community’s commitment to advocating for peace and supporting those affected by the conflict.
Both the rally and meeting drew attention to the broader implications of the conflict and the role of local governance in shaping responses to international crises.
