The City of Frederick has began designing two traffic circles along Willowdale Drive, at the intersections of Willowdale Drive with Schaffer Drive, and Willowdale Drive with Key Parkway.
The circle at Key Parkway will replace the existing traffic signal at this location. These changes will directly impact
neighborhoods and the flow of traffic.
The Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC 5) recently convened to discuss critical improvements proposed by the City of Frederick’s Engineering Department in collaboration with Wallace Montgomery Engineers and Fox and Associates Engineers. The meeting focused on plans for enhancements along Shookstown Road, as well as traffic calming measures for Willowdale Drive, Key Parkway, and Schaffer Drive. Notably, the proposal includes converting existing street lights into roundabouts, aimed at improving traffic flow and safety in the area. Community members engaged in a lively discussion, voicing their opinions and suggestions on the initiatives designed to enhance neighborhood connectivity and safety.
