BlackFrederick.com partnered with the Nigerians in Frederick Association to host the first Black Frederick Festival at Carroll Creek on August 26th.
The inaugural family-friendly event celebrates Black culture and the diaspora with performances, music, food, and dance.
BlackFrederick.com was founded by Tia Hall-Brown and Dr. Denise Hall-Rollins almost 20 years ago as the premier destination for news and information in the Frederick African-American community.
Local businesses and organizations showcased their goods and services while attendees flocked to the creek.
Mayor O’Connor and Couny Executive Jessica Fitzwater signed a proclamation that officially made the BlackFrederick Festival an inaugural event.
Performances of poetry, dance, and song graced the stage throughout the day. The Mayor of Hagerstown, Mayor Martinez visited to perform her poetry. Singers, rappers, and the Jackson Chapel choir performed as well.
