While its always been time-consuming and costly, back-to- school shopping has become increasingly difficult as Frederick families have been feeling the national economic strain since the pandemic began. Frederick resident Markell La Roche is hosting a field day and back to school drive to be held on Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd, 2022.
It’s been hard for all of us for the past couple years and as a single parent I understand how challenging it can be to get even the most simplest supplies for the upcoming school year. – Markell LaRoche
The goal of the Field Day is to gift a minimum of 25 students Grades K-5 with school supplies he school drive. The following supplies will be provided: backpacks, pencil cases, pencils, and composition books. Kids will have the opportunity to play foot races, tug-of-war and other simple fun games!
The reason I started “The Drive” is because I personally know it takes a village to raise a child. Through all the chaos that has impacted our communities over the past years, I just want to take the chance to deviate from the norm and put my hand into the community. – Markell La Roche, Founder
