Last Thursday, attendees gathered at the Emancipation Building for a thought-provoking speaker presentation on Frederick’s rich emancipation history. Michelle Diane Wright, a distinguished professor from CCBC Essex, delivered an insightful talk that shed light on the significance of emancipation milestones in the region.
Wright’s engaging discourse captivated the audience, offering deep insights into Frederick’s past struggles and triumphs in the journey towards freedom. Her expertise and passion for history resonated throughout the event, fostering a meaningful dialogue among participants.
Then, on June 19th at 10:00 a.m., the community gathered again at 160 W All Saints Street for the historical Emancipation Building Marker Unveiling. This event was a landmark occasion, celebrating Frederick’s heritage with esteemed remarks from Dr. Cheryl Gooch of AARCH and Mayor O’Connor.
