February 7th, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day #NBHAAD, is one of many awareness days for the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Maryland was ranked 5th among U.S. states in adult/adolescent HIV and AIDS diagnosis rates.
The Baltimore-Columbia-Towson metropolitan area had the 14th highest estimated HIV diagnosis rate of any major metropolitan area in the U.S.
CDC estimated that 15.3% of people living with HIV in Maryland were undiagnosed.
African Americans continue to top the charts for HIV contractions in Frederick, in Maryland, and on a national and global level.
Total living HIV case rates in Maryland were 3 to 10 times higher among Blacks, compared to Hispanics and Whites.
