The year is wrapping up let’s take a look at the hottest tracks of 2017!
1. Freedom – Chris Canon
Chris Canon’s song Freedom from his album 30 Day Trial, is available on Spotify. The album was released in August and was very well received. “Freedom”features singer Tim Bush; and infuses the 808’s, gospel, funk, snare drums, and hip hop. Check out the track and whole project here.
2. Way Too – Ahzay
Ahzay’s “Way Too” gained a lot of traction in a short period of time. Between the dope visual, the catchy hook, and the traditional hip-hop swag, “Way Too” was a perfect crowd mover. Check out the OUT40 article!
3. Lost – Andre Ossit
Who doesn’t want to get lost to a dreamy intro like this? Andre Ossit dropped “Lost” this year and it was a favorite. It creates the ambiance for you and yours — psychedelic vibes that make you want to drift away with the one you love. You can read the OUT40 article here.
4. MoMA – Dawson
The production on “MoMa” was one for the books. Downtown Dawson’s “MoMa” describes his lyrical ability, artistic makeup to that of a collection of artistic exhibitions. Anyone ever been to the MoMa? Check out the OUT40 article!
5. Slickback Pt 1. – Demetrius
Demetrius’s Part 1 to $lickback stood out because of his cool delivery and cadillac cruisin’ vibe yet bars that make you do a rewind. Part one had us eager for part two! Read the OUT40 article.
6. Latch – DaJohn
DaJohn’s “Latch” was a lady’s favorite. Featuring Eddie Heartthrob, the song is an automatic bed warmer. Fellas put this on the playlist when she comes over for the first time — it’s a win win. Thank us later. Take a look at the OUT40 article.
7. Porn Star – Sturge
We were so glad to discover Sturge this year because he’s been slept on! Porn Star is the soundtrack to a young man’s dream life. This sh*t cranks! It’s the turn up song everyone loves and can definitely be heard through the club speakers. OUT40 covered “Porn Star” here.
8. Gimme Revolver – daMood
2017 was daMood’s breakout year with their track “Gimme Revolver.” daMood is a collective that is unique in creation, rapper Retro Ricole spits over up tempo rock that provides a mesh of various genres that created a new and unexpected masterpiece. We covered “Gimme Revolver” here.
9. One Night – Bucksii featuring Du$t
Bucksii always delivers on the vocals. “One Night” is the night starter for a Saturday out down the road. It’s a seductive bounce for the ladies and their suitors. Du$t Dolla adds the bars necessary to make this track radio ready. It’s a must-have in rotation. Read the OUT40 article here.
10. All I Need – Anf
Anf has made such a name for himself in the city it’s rare that he’ll drop something dope and it go unnoticed. The track “All I Need” is no different. “All I Need” is a trap gem that was an anthem everyone could relate to this year.

Writing and publishing a book was always on the Andersons' to-do list and the COVID-19 quarantine allowed the venture to flourish.
