Now that January is wrapping up, let’s discuss the New Year Resolutions we have for the Golden Mile! Whether you’re a long-time resident or newcomer to the west side of Frederick, we all have our wish-list for things we’d like to see on the Golden Mile. Here’s ours!
1. Get a night life.
The Golden Mile is a bustling hub during the day, but it could use a little more life after the sun goes down. We’d love to see more late-night eateries, bars, and entertainment venues open up. A few
more live music spots or comedy clubs would be a great addition to the area, giving residents a place to unwind and enjoy some entertainment without having to travel far.
2. Improve public transportation.
While the Golden Mile is easily accessible by car, public transportation could use a boost. More frequent bus services, especially during peak hours, would make commuting easier for residents. Additionally, improved pedestrian and bike paths would encourage more people to leave their cars at home, reducing traffic and making the area more eco-friendly.
3. Encourage local businesses.
While big-name stores and restaurants have their place, there’s something special about local businesses. They add character to the area and often offer unique products and services. We’d love
to see more incentives for local entrepreneurs to set up shop on the Golden Mile.
4. Promote community events.
Community events can bring people together and create a sense of belonging. Whether it’s a farmers market, a street fair, or a holiday parade, we’d love to see more events that celebrate the Golden Mile and its residents.
5. Enhance safety measures.
Safety is a priority for any neighborhood. We’d like to see more well-lit areas, increased police presence, and community initiatives that promote safety and security.
